The Dawn from On High

"In the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us."

Lk 1:67-79

Whether we like it or not, whether we are rested or not, morning always comes. The sun always rises. And this is a gift. Each new day is a gift.

As creatures with a knack for burdening ourselves with physical, emotional, and spiritual baggage, we need the invitation of the new day to embrace a fresh start in our walk with God, our neighbors, and ourself. We need to cleanse our minds of the trivialities of life, refuel with the sustenance of scripture, and set our course straight for another day's walk toward the fullness of the Kingdom. Even if the preceding night has not provided us with adequate rest, the dawn offers us an opportunity to place ourself once again in God's hands for the praise of his glory and the redemption of the world.

Christ, the New Dawn, approaches you now. Are you prepared to meet him?

Lord, may I always be ready to welcome you.
