Which of the two did his father's will?

Mt 21:28-32

My two-year-old daughter abruptly stops blowing on the lit Advent wreath and, setting her half-eaten banana on the table, backs away from it. I smile. It ordinarily takes an uncomfortable amount of cajoling to get her to leave the wreath alone, but the mutually-agreeable request, "Would you please go get each of us a cookie for dessert?" has had a near immediate, positive effect.

Do we behave in a toddler-like manner toward God? Do we respond quickly when his requests align with our own will, yet drag our feet or refuse him altogether when they are disageeable to us? It takes a great amount of selflessness to respond positively to the will of another when our own desires are contrary, but this is exactly what Jesus asks us to do.

What is he asking of you today? How are you responding to him?

Lord, I love your commands. Please help me to show my love by following your will rather than my own desires.
